Women's Golf Finishes Fourth in Regular Season Finale

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team finished in fourth place out of 11 teams following two rounds of competition at the Blugold Spring Invitational at Wild Ridge Golf Course to wrap up the regular season.

Results

Eau Claire finished in fourth with 676 strokes. Carleton College (Minn.) won the tournament with 643 strokes while Carthage College took second with 663 and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) was third with 670.

Leading the Blugolds was Kate Engler (Jr.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner), tying for fifth place with 163 strokes. Grace Gillmore from Carleton won the tournament, which consisted of 70 golfers, with 157 strokes.

Two other Blugolds finished in the top 14. Katie Moore (Fr.-Woodbury, Minn.) was 13th with 167 strokes and Emily Stone (Jr.-Eden Prairie, Minn.) tied for 14th place with 169 strokes.

The Blugolds will now prepare for the 2014 NCAA Division III Championship. It will be contested May 13-16 in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The Blugolds automatically qualified for the championship after winning the WIAC title last fall.
