Women's Golf Finishes Seventh at Division III Classic

LAKE CITY, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team moved up three spots from the first day to finish in seventh place out of 16 teams at the Division III Midwest Classic at The Jewel Golf Club today.

The Blugolds completed the two-day event with 678 strokes while the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) won with 648.

Two Blugolds tied for 13th place or better in the 92-golfer field, which Doyle O'Brien from St. Thomas led with 152 strokes.

Emily Stone (Jr.-Eden Prairie, Minn.) led Eau Claire with 163 strokes to tie for eighth place and Kate Engler (Jr.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) had 164 to tie for 13th place.

The Blugolds will wrap up the regular season next weekend, competing at the College of Saint Benedict Blazer Invitational at Wapicada Golf Club in St. Cloud, Minn. Action will get underway Saturday and will conclude Sunday. The WIAC Championship is scheduled for Oct. 4-6.
