Women's Golf Takes Sixth at Wartburg Invitational

WAVERLY, Iowa (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team finished in sixth place out of 15 teams with 664 strokes after two rounds at the Wartburg College Fall Invitational at Centennial Oaks Golf Club.

University of St. Thomas (Minn.) won the event with 634 strokes while Grand View University (Iowa) was second with 638 and Wartburg College (Iowa) was third with 639 strokes.

After being tied for first place after round one with 74 strokes, Kate Engler (Jr.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) dropped back one spot to lead the Blugolds with a second place finish today. She shot a 74 again today for a two-day total of 148 but Grand View's Kenzie Rottinghaus shot 73 today for a two-round total of 147 to claim medalist honors.

Mandi Salo (Jr.-Hermantown, Minn.) was the next highest finisher for Eau Claire, tying for 26th place with 168 strokes. Four other Blugolds finished between 32nd and 44th place in the 89-golfer field.

Next weekend, the Blugolds will compete at the Division III Midwest Classic, hosted by Carleton College (Minn.), at the Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn. Competition will get underway Saturday and will conclude Sunday.
