Women's Golf Opens Spring at Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling

NORMAL, Ill. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team opened its spring schedule this weekend, taking ninth place out of 19 teams at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling at Ironwood Golf Course.

Final Results

The Blugolds came in ninth with 680 strokes. Washington University (Mo.) won the event with 622 strokes while DePauw University (Ind.) was second with 625 and Illinois Wesleyan took third with 626.

Kate Engler (Jr.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) led the Blugolds as she came in 13th place with 160 strokes, 10 behind the winner.

Only one other Blugold finished in the top 25 as Emily Stone (Jr.-Eden Prairie, Minn.) tied for 25th with 167 strokes.

Next Friday and Saturday the Blugolds will be in Waverly, Iowa for the Wartburg Spring Invitational at Centennial Oaks Golf Club.
