Engler Leads Women's Golf at Carleton Invitational

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – After one round of competition, Kate Engler (Jr.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) won the Carleton College Invitational, while the UW-Eau Claire women's golf team finished in fourth place out of seven teams at Northfield Golf Club.

Results

Saturday's opening round was suspended because of lightening but the round was completed Sunday morning before the second round was cancelled due to weather.

Engler finished strong to claim first place with 77 strokes, four in front of the rest of the field, which included 45 golfers.

Emily Stone (Jr.-Eden Prairie, Minn.) was the Blugolds' next highest finisher, tying for 12th place with 86 strokes.

As a team, Eau Claire finished fourth with 346 strokes while Carleton won with 335 and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) took second with 341. The University of St. Thomas (Minn.) was third with 343.

The Blugolds will be home next weekend, hosting the Blugold Spring Invitational at Wild Ridge Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday.
