Women's Basketball Suffers Second Straight Loss

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team suffered their second straight loss on Saturday, falling to UW-Stevens Point 43-56 in Berg Gym.

Box Score

The start of school has resulted in a change of course for the UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team.

After accumulating a five-game win streak to start the new year, Eau Claire has now dropped two consecutive conference games.

Trailing by a single point at halftime, the Blugolds seemed to be in prime position to redeem their December loss to Stevens Point.

It was not to be.

While Eau Claire's struggles from the field ultimately doomed them, their stout defense kept them in the game.

Teenie Lichtfuss (Jr. Oshkosh, Wis.) continued her potent scoring, recording 15 points on the night.

Ellen Blacklock (So. Winona, Minn.) scored nine, with Abby Midtlien (Chaseburg, Wis.) adding seven.

Courtney Lewis (Sr. Prairie du Chien, Wis.) pitched in six points, and led the team in rebounding with 10 rebounds.

The Blugolds (11-7, 6-3 WIAC) will look to right the ship on Wednesday, Feb. 4, when they return home to face a Superior for Team/Find the Cure Night.
