Lichtfuss Named WIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire women's basketball guard Teenie Lichtfuss (Jr.-Oshkosh, WI/Lourdes) has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced today by WIAC Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Lichtfuss was a key factor for the Blugolds in defeating defending conference champion UW-Whitewater and No. 17-ranked UW-Oshkosh.  In a 64-58 victory at UW-Whitewater, Lichtfuss scored a game-high 12 points converting four-of-nine field goal attempts, two-of-four three-point field goals and two-of-two free throws in addition to collecting five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 33 minutes of play.  The win ended a six-game losing streak to the Warhawks.  It was the first win by Eau Claire at Kachel Gymnasium since a 61-34 victory on February 26, 2009.  In a 63-57 overtime win at UW-Oshkosh, Lichtfuss played 39 minutes scoring a game-best 20 points making eight-of-14 field goals, two-of-four three-point field goals and two-of-two free throws to go along with six rebounds, four assists and one steal.  The win at Kolf Sports Center ended a three-game losing streak to the Titans.  For the week, Lichtfuss averaged 16 points, 5.5 rebounds, three assists and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 12-of-23 (.522) from the field, four-of-eight (.500) from the three-point line and four-of-four (1.000) from the free throw line.
