Donovan Named First-Team All-American

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer forward Nathan Donovan (So. - Hazel Green, Wis./Wahlert Catholic) earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches' All-America first team this season. Donovan, on the back of another historic season, becomes the first Blugold in program history to receive All-America status.

USC Division III All-America Teams

Donovan led the attack for a Blugolds team which went 19-2-1 and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament this season. The forward tied for the fifth-most goals in Division III by scoring 21 times this season for the Blugolds. He added seven assists to finish with 49 points, which tied for third-best in the nation. He had six game-winning goals.

"Nathan Donovan is a stellar student-athlete who resembles the title of an All-American," Blugolds coach Casey Holm said. "Nathan is a player everyone roots for with his lighthearted, yet fun goal celebrations as well as his relentless work ethic shown on and off the field. He leads by example at all times! He is truly one of a kind and so very deserving of being UWEC men's soccer's first ever First Team All-American."

Donovan's season featured a five-goal showing against Finlandia on Oct. 14. He had three multi-goal games, including a two-goal performance against Luther in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The marksman scored in 15 of the Blugolds' 22 games. Of his 76 shots this year, 67% were on target.

Donovan's totals for goals and points both rank as the second best in the two-year history of the men's soccer program. He set the top marks in both categories in 2021 and was a first-team All-Region IX selection as a freshman.
