Four Men's Soccer Players Named to All-Region Teams

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — Four members of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team received All-Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches this season. Forward Nathan Donovan (So. - Hazel Green, Wis./Wahlert Catholic) and defender Ethan Andersen (Jr. - Burnsville, Minn.) were first-team selections in Region IX, goalkeeper Spencer Banks (So. - Stevens Point, Wis.) earned a spot on the second team, and midfielder Carter Thiesfeld (So. - Forest Lake, Minn.) was a third-team honoree.

USC Division III All-Region Teams

Donovan tied for the fifth-most goals in Division III by scoring 21 times this season for the Blugolds. He added seven assists to finish with 49 points, which tied for third-best in the nation. He had six game-winning goals.

Andersen anchored a stout defense for the Blugolds, helping hold opponents to 0.57 goals per game. He also contributed on the other end of the field, where he had five goals and two assists for a total of 12 points.

Banks had a goals against average of 0.67 this season for UW-Eau Claire. He made 46 saves and had six shutouts. He finished the season with a 15-2-0 record in net. His save percentage was .807%.

Thiesfeld led Division III in total assists with 23, which was six better than anybody else in the country. He also scored five goals to accumulate 33 points this season.

The Blugolds completed the second season in program history with a 19-2-1 record. They qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time, and beat Luther 3-1 in the opening round for the first NCAA Tournament win in program history. They fell to Gustavus Adolphus in a penalty kick shootout in the second round.
