EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire football player Abe Ward (Sr.-Faribault, Minn.) has been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Six first team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Ward, a kinesiology major with a 3.76 GPA, started all 10 games for the Blugolds this season on the offensive line. In his career, he played in 23 games, starting 12. This season he blocked for one of the top offenses in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the Blugolds finished the season with the No. 1 pass offense while finishing third in total offense.
Because of his first team selection, Ward advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first- and second-team All-America honorees will be named later this month.
