The fearless Blugold offense came out strong in the first two sets, while holding the Eagles under 20 in each set. Their success wouldn't last long after that, however, going down early in set three 6-12, a deficit that proved to be too steep. La Crosse's momentum continued into the next two sets with the Eagles edging out the Blugolds in five sets.
"In the first two sets, we executed our game plan very effectively, getting La Crosse out of system and pressuring them with both our serve and our offense," said Head Coach Kim Wudi. "In sets three through five, we could not get any production out of our offense, and La Crosse stepped up their intensity on both offense and defense. We were not as aggressive as we needed to be in all phases of the game, which allowed La Crosse to gain control of the momentum and we never recovered."
Emily Miller (So.-Prior Lake, Minn/Prior Lake) led the team with 10 kills while Katrina Raskie (Jr.-Weston, Wis/D.C. Everest) and Talia Jaskulske (So.-Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) tied for a team high 19 digs.
