EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The No. 3 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team hosted WIAC rivals No. 4 UW-River Falls on Saturday. Both teams came in without a loss, but Eau Claire would stay undefeated in conference play with a 2-0 victory.

Box Score

The Blugolds and the Falcons were evenly matched in the first period with shot for shot and save for save with both teams fighting to break the 0-0 tie. Both teams held a strong defense ending the period with no goals on the board.

The 2nd period would start the same way the 1st period ended with both teams fighting for that first goal. At 2:28 Eau Claire's Emma Peterson (Sr.-Superior, WI) would slot one pass the River Falls goalie with assists coming from Hallie Sheridan (Jr.-Fergus Falls, MN) and Samantha Scherling (Jr.-Rogers, MN). With the 1-0 lead the Blugolds would put a tight defense against the Falcons to end the period with the lead going into the 3rd.

In the 3rd period it would be a battle until the last whistle. With a timeout from River Falls and an empty net, Peterson would seal the win in the last 36 seconds left in the game with her second goal of the game giving the Blugolds the 2-0 win. River Falls would out-shoot Eau Claire 23-22.

Stephanie Martin (Sr.- Yorktown, VA/Tabb) saved all 23 shots she faced for the Blugolds' third shutout and Martin is now 4-0-0 in net.

Undefeated Eau Claire (7-0-0, 3-0-0 WIAC) hosts Hamline University (Minn.) on Tuesday, November 22nd at 7 PM.
