EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - After Friday's overtime loss to Hamline University, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team took on their third Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) foe in three games, falling to Gustavus Adolphus 3-1.
Both teams started with a defensive-minded first period, only allowing 6 shots along with numerous blocked shots. But it would be Sami Meister (Fr.-Plymouth, MN) getting a deflection in front of the net to put the Blugolds ahead 1-0. Holly Turnbull (So.-Hayward, WI) would get credit with the assist after her well-placed shot from the point. However, the Gusties would strike three minutes later after a scrum in front of the net.
But the Gustavus offensive would strike again, tacking on another goal in the second and a final goal in the third to seal the 3-1 road win.
The Blugolds out-shot the Gusties 30-16 in the contest.
Erin Connolly (Fr.-Mequon, WI) finished with 15 saves in goal and falls to 2-1 on the season.
Eau Claire (3-2) will go back on the road Wednesday, November 9th as they travel to Northfield, Minn. to take on St. Olaf at 7:30 p.m.
