EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team fell 4-1 against University of Wisconsin-River Falls Friday afternoon for their third game of Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play.
UW-River Falls got on the board first at the 10:34 mark of the first period and would add a shorthanded goal with 30 seconds remaining to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Despite multiple power-plays opportunities for both teams, the score remained 2-0 after the second period.
At the start of the third period, Kelsey Rafferty (So.-De Pere, WI) fired a shot past River Falls' defense with an assist from Ashley Baugher (Sr.-Crystal Lake, IL/Central) to get Eau Claire on the board. Eau Claire fired off several shots on goal but couldn't get another one past Falcon goalie Angie Hall.
The Falcons offense remained on attack, tallying two more goals to earn the 4-1 win.
On the night, Goalie Paige Turner (Sr.-Iron River, WI/Duluth East) had 26 saves for Eau Claire.
Eau Claire's (3-2-2, 1-1-1 WIAC) next game is Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., where they travel to River Falls (3-2-0, 1-1-0).
