EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnast Tia Ravara (Jr. - San Leandro, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) has been named a Regional Athlete of the Year by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association.
Ravara is the athlete of the year in the North Central region for Division III. Ravara won the all-around national championship at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championships in March, scoring a 38.100 to clinch the fifth national title in Blugolds history. She became the first Blugold gymnast to ever win an all-around national title.
Ravara won the title by finishing 0.3 points ahead of second place. She also placed seventh at the NCGA West Regional to advance to nationals.
