Men's Cross Country Victorious at JV Cup

DECORAH, Iowa (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team placed first of five teams to win the JV Cup hosted by Luther College (Iowa).

The Blugold men racked up 29 points, beating out host Luther, which scored 40 points. Augustana College totaled 84 points to take the third spot.

Eau Claire placed three runners in the top four individual finishes. Matt Wenaas (So.- Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell) claimed the overall first individual finish with a run of 26:34.7.

Erik Rosvold (Fr.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) and Ryan Bailey (Jr.- Minnetonka, Minn.) also produced top-four runs with respective third and fourth place times of 26:46.0 and 26:52.1.

Joe Martschinke (So.-Waukesha, Wis./West) and Jeffrey Quednow (So.-Westboro, Wis./Rib Lake) rounded out the five for Eau Claire. Martschinke placed seventh with a run of 26:59.3. Quednow's 27:17.6 effort earned him a 14th place finish.

Next weekend, the Blugolds will compete at the NCAA Division III Regional competition. Hosted by Augustana College (Ill.), the events will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12.
