WINONA, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's cross country finished in third place out of eight teams at St. Mary's No Limit Invitational today.
The Blugolds finished with 67 points, while UW-La Crosse won with 20. St. Mary's University (Minn.) came in second with 46. The Blugolds' average time on the 8,000-meter course was 27:54.24.
Eight Blugolds finished tied for 24th or better, while the top six came in 19th place or better.
Joe Martschinke (So.-Waukesha, Wis./West) led the way with a time of 27:39.10 as he tied for 10th place overall.
Philip Schommer (Jr.-Kimberly, Wis.) came in next for Eau Claire as he took 13th place with a time of 27:44.60 while Tyler Hart (So.-Sun Prairie, Wis.) was 14th with a time of 27:57.50.
Rounding out the top five were Mike O'Connor (Fr.-Muskego, Wis.), who took 16th with a time of 28:04.50 and Jeffrey Quednow (So.-Westboro, Wis./Rib Lake), who crossed the line with a time of 28:05.50 in 18th place.
Tomorrow a group of Blugolds will compete at the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational.
