Track & Field’s Conlin inducted into USTFCCCA Hall of Fame

GREENSBORO, NC (Blugolds.com) – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) inducted the NCAA Division III Track & Field Athlete Hall of Fame Class of 2021 on Wednesday night, with Blugold throws coach Paul Conlin being honored in the four-member class.

In a virtual ceremony ahead of this weekend's NCAA Outdoor Championship, Conlin was honored for his time as a dominate thrower at UW-Platteville as well as producing numerous All-American and national champion throwers at UW-Eau Claire.

Conlin was a three-time NCAA shot put champion, five-time All-American and four-time WIAC Champion.

After placing second at the 1990 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Conlin moved into the top spot in the nation in 1992, winning both the WIAC indoor and outdoor titles before claiming that national titles in both seasons. He nearly completely the same feat in 1993, with the exception being a national runner-up at the NCAA indoor championships. Conlin still holds the No. 7 mark in NCAA outdoor history.

As a Blugold coach, Conlin's throwers have combined for 10 national titles, 10 NCAA runner-up finishes and 47 All-America honors.
