Blugolds Compete In WIAC Mutlis Day 1

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's track & field teams took part in day 1 of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Multi-Event Invitational, hosted by UW-Stevens Point. With a full WIAC field participating, the women would win two events and the men would win one in the opening day of competition.

Results (Day 1)

Megan Wallace (Sr. – Burlington, WI) showed out for the Blugolds in the women's pentathlon winning two events. Wallace's victories came in the long jump (5.59m) and the shot put (12.59m). She also took the runner-up spot in the 8000m (2:28.31). The women will head into the final day in second place with 10 points. UW-La Crosse currently leads the women with 14 points.

For the men, Marcus Weaver (Sr. – Lewiston, MN/Lewiston-Altura) took claim to the sole Blugold event win. Weaver took first in the shot put (13.43m) and second in the high jump (1.97m). Abrahm Schroedl (Sr. – De Forest, WI) would take second in the shot put (12.55m) and third in the long jump (6.68m), high jump (1.91m), and 60m (7.27).

The men will complete their heptathlon events and the Elite 5k on the final day. The women will compete in their own Elite 5k to finish off the Invitational. Opening events of day 2 are scheduled to begin at 4:30PM from Stevens Point, WI.
