NEW ORLEANS (blugolds.com) – The Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the regular season. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Marcus Weaver (Jr. - Lewiston, MN/Lewiston-Altura) has been named the North Region's Male Field Athlete of the Year.
Weaver set the NCAA DIII record in the heptathlon with his 5533-point total at the Warren Bowlus Open. He is also tied for eighth nationally in the high jump at 2.06m (6-9). He is set to compete at the 2022 NCAA Division III Track & Field Indoor Championships this weekend in the heptathlon on Friday, March 11th at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC.
