STILLWATER, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – Four members of the UW-Eau Claire men's golf team placed among the top nine individual placewinners as the Blugolds won the four-team Stone Ridge Classic hosted here today at Stone Ridge Golf Course.
The Blugolds shot an eight-under par 280 to take top team honors. Gustavus Adolphus (MN) finished second shooting a 281 followed by Bethel (MN) at 288 and Augsburg (MN) rounding out the team scores with a 299.
Jake Erickson (Sr.-Chaska, MN/Academy of Holy Angels) earned medalist honors by shooting a six-under 66. Erickson's score was two strokes ahead of his next closest competitor. Brady Hanson (So.-Woodbury, MN/East Ridge) finished tied for sixth posting a score of 70.
Drew DeSormeau (Jr.-De Pere, WI/West De Pere) placed eighth with a one-under score of 71 while Joey Dreier (So.-New London, MN) finished tied for ninth one stroke behind DeSormeau with a 72.
The Blugolds must now wait to see if they are selected to compete in the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships to be held May 12-15 at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.
