HAM LAKE, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team tied for fifth place out of 18 teams after two rounds of competition at the Augsburg College Fall Invitational at Majestic Oaks Golf Club to start the season.
The Blugolds finished with 602 strokes to tie the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) for fifth. The University of Manitoba won the tournament with 584 strokes.
Two Blugolds finished in the top 12 with Joey Dreier (So.-New London, Minn.) leading the way with 147 strokes, tied for seventh. Patrick Conroy (Fr.-Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi) tied for 12th with 149 strokes.
Winning the tournament was Coy Papacheck from Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) with 140 strokes. A total of 103 golfers competed at this year's event.
The Blugolds will be back in action next Saturday and Sunday at the Saint John's Fall Invitational. Round one will be contested at Greystone Golf Club in Sauk Centre, Minn. while the teams will compete at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Sartell, Minn. on Sunday.
