EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Two UW-Eau Claire teams were in action today, volleyball and soccer, to kick off the 2013-14 season.
Women's
Soccer
UW-Eau Claire 3, Gustavus Adolphus 0
The Blugolds opened the year in St. Peter, Minn. with a 3-0 win. There was no scoring in the opening half but the Blugolds scored three times in a 20-minute stretch in the second half to secure the win.
Women's Volleyball
UW-Eau Claire 3, Northland 0
Concordia-Moorhead 3, UW-Eau Claire 1
The Blugolds opened the season at the Saint Benedict Labor Day Tournament in St. Joseph, Minn. with a 3-0 victory over Northland but fell later in the day to Concordia-Moorhead 3-1. Eau Claire will play two more matches Saturday.
