EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football team hosted their final home game of the year on Saturday. The Blugolds celebrated Senior Day and Hometown Heroes Day at Carson Park as UW-Platteville was in town. After gaining an early lead, the Blugolds suffered a 55-28 defeat at home.

The first drive for UWEC established a sense of momentum as Harry Roubidoux (Fr. – Winneconne, WI) completed two passes for 38 yards putting UWEC in the redzone. Brady Frantal (Fr. – Appleton, WI/North) converted his ninth straight field goal on the year for 3-0.
After a quick answer by the Pioneers, the visitors capitalized twice before the quarter ended for 13 points. After the second touchdown, Carmelo Rosado (Sr. – Beaver Dam, WI) picked up a fumbled snap during the extra point and returned it 94 yards for the two-point score.
UWEC would add another Frantal field goal and a 73-yard touchdown rush by Austin Belot (Sr. – Neenah, WI) before the end of the first half to cut the UWP lead to 20-15.
The second half found UWEC in the endzone twice with the passing game as Ben Redington (Jr. – Rochelle, IL/Rochelle Township) caught a four-yard score for his first touchdown as a Blugold.
Darius Jones followed suit in the fourth quarter with a 23-yard reception down the right sideline and into the endzone, to cut into ta large 48-28 UWP lead.
Roubidoux finished the day with 13 completions, 199 yards and two touchdown throws. Belot led the rush game with 201 yards on 26 carries and one touchdown. He currently leads the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with 1330 rushing yards.
The Blugolds will be on the road for the regular season finale as they travel to UW-La Crosse on Saturday, November 13th. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 AM.
