LEXINGTON, Ky.-- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's volleyball team earned the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2022-23 season.
As a team, the Blugolds posted a 3.56 team GPA (grade point average) while collecting a 21-10 overall record. UW-Eau Claire placed fourth in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) and earned a trip to the 2022 NCAA Division III National Tournament but fell in the first round to Gustavus Adolphus College, 3-1.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, recognizes teams that displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining a year-long grade point average of 3.30 or better on a 4.00 scale or 4.10 on a 5.00 scale.
