Barrett, Nelson Named to AVCA All-Region Team

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball players Arianna Barrett (Sr. - Lakeville, Minn./North) and Charlie Nelson (Jr. - Lakeville, Minn./Farmington) were both named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III All-Region 8 Team this week. Barrett and Nelson helped guide the Blugolds into the NCAA Tournament this season.

AVCA All-Region Teams

Barrett, a right side hitter, hit a team-high 351 kills this season and averaged 3.16 kills per set. Defensively, the senior made 264 digs and 53 total blocks. Barrett also excelled in the classroom to earn the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete Award in the WIAC.

Nelson helped the Blugold attack click as its setter. She distributed 1,144 assists for an average of 10.31 per set. Nelson also came up with 394 digs at an average of 3.55 per set, which was the second-best mark on the team. She made 27 total blocks at the net.

UW-Eau Claire finished the season 21-10 after falling to Gustavus Adolphus 3-1 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday.
