Women's Swimming & Diving Opens Season at Home

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Competing at home, the UW-Eau Claire women's swimming & diving team fell 148-95 against Mankato State University in the Blugolds' first meet of the season.

The Blugolds had several good finishes, snagging three victories as well as 15 combined second and third place finishes.

Diving, Amanda Baker (So.-Hudson, Wis.) took first in the one-meter with a total of 261.50 points. Teammate Sara Axness (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) also grabbed a win, this one in the three-meter competition. She finished with a total score of 249.10.

In the 100 yard butterfly, Elissa Hermsen (Fr.-Waunakee, Wis.) took first with a time of 1:01.07.

The men's and women's teams will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they compete against UW-Stevens Point and St. Cloud State University (Minn.). Diving will take place in Eau Claire while swimming will be contested in Stevens Point.
