Seven Blugold Wrestlers Compete at Wheaton Invitational

WHEATON, Ill. (Blugolds.com) – Seven UW-Eau Claire wrestlers competed at the 2014 Pete Willson Invitational, hosted by Wheaton College (Ill.) on Friday.

Day One Results | Final Results

Wrestling at 184 pounds, Luke Ortscheid (Sr.-Wausau, Wis./West) had the top result as he went 3-2 on overall. He opened with a victory but then fell before winning two in a row. Ortscheid then dropped his final match of the day.

Two other Blugolds finished with 2-2 records, Nathaniel Behnke (So.-Bruce, Wis.) at 141 pounds and Josh Cormican (Fr.-Boyceville, Wis.) at 174 pounds.

After day one of the invite, the Blugolds are tied for 24th place out of 32 teams but no Blugold wrestlers advanced to Saturday's competition.

The Blugolds will be back in action again next Friday, competing at home against UW-Oshkosh at 7 p.m. They will then host the Blugold Open on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m., to end the regular season.
