STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Two UW-Eau Claire wrestlers won their weight classes at the 2013 Pointer Open, hosted by UW-Stevens Point today.
Competing at 141 pounds, Nathaniel Behnke (So.-Bruce, Wis.) picked up the victory. Behnke won three straight to get to the championship and then won 4-3 in the title match to take first.
At 149 pounds, Ryan Seidler (Sr.-Adams, Wis./Adams-Friendship) won the championship after pinning his opponent at 5:47 in to final match. He won three straight to get to the championship.
Two other Blugolds finished in the top three at 184 pounds. Mat Rieckhoff (Sr.-Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) claimed second in the division while Josh Cormican (Fr.-Boyceville, Wis.) took third.
At 197 pounds, Luke Ortscheid (Sr.-Wausau, Wis./West) also finished in third place.
The Blugolds have their first dual of the year Thursday when they are at St. Olaf College (Minn.). Action will get underway at 7 p.m.
