Blugold Wrestling Team Falls to UW-Oshkosh on the Road

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team traveled to Oshkosh for a match against UW-Oshkosh but fell short 26-16 tonight.

The Blugold wrestlers won four of the ten matches on the day.

In the 125-pound division, Zackary Sirny (Fr.-Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead Union) bested his opponent by a 5-3 decision.

Nathaniel Behnke (Fr.-Bruce, Wis.), in the 141-pound weight class, pinned his opponent, Justin Schienebeck, in 5:10.

Later, the Blugolds tied the match at 13 when Matt Koch (Fr.-Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) won his 165-pound match by a 16-3 major decision.

Finally, Mat Rieckhoff (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) defeated his opponent by a 9-3 decision, in the 197-pound division.

The Blugolds dropped to a 1-11 record overall while falling to 0-4 in WIAC duals.  Oshkosh improves to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the WIAC.

UW-Eau Claire will look to pick up its second victory when they travel to Mequon, Wis. for the Concordia Duals tomorrow.  The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the Blugolds will face three different schools.
