Wrestlers Blanked By Nationally-Ranked Eagles

LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Competing at fifth-ranked UW-La Crosse tonight, the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team was unable to win any matches as it fell to the Eagles 49-0 in Mitchell Hall.

Mat Rieckhoff (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest), ranked fifth in NCAA Division III, had the closest match of the night but he came up short to seventh-ranked Eric Twohey at 184 pounds, falling 5-0.

At 141 pounds, Nathaniel Behnke (Fr.-Bruce, Wis.) had a close match against second-ranked Adam Sheley, but Behnke also fell short 8-2.

Eau Claire drops to 0-8 in dual meets on the season and 0-3 in the conference. La Crosse improves to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the WIAC.

The Blugolds will next be in action on January 5 at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Duals.
