Six Wrestlers Place for UW-Eau Claire in Augsburg Open

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW- Eau Claire wrestling team had six wrestlers place in the Augsburg Open today.  The match was the team's third performance of the season.

Leading the way for Eau Claire was freshman Justin Poirier (Altoona, Wis.), who placed first in the 165-pound bronze division.  Poirer won his first place match over Ivan Alvorez of Buena Vista by a pin at 5:20.

Also performing well for the Blugolds was Steven Fisher (Jr.-Greenfield, Wis.), who won the third place match for the 141-pound silver division by a 3-1 decision. 

Freshman Zackary Sirny (Wild Rose, Wis.) finished in fourth place in the 125-pound gold division.

Two Blugolds finished in fifth place, Nathaniel Behnke (Fr.-Bruce, Wis.) in the 141-pound gold division and Jacob Hoffstatter (Jr.-Stanley, Wis./Stanley-Boyd) in the 174-pound bronze division. Luke Ortscheid (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./West) took sixth in the 197-pound gold division.

The Blugolds next meet will be at UW-La Crosse in the 2x4 Duals on Saturday, December 1, starting at 9 a.m.
