Blugold Wrestling Goes 1-2 at MSOE Duals

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Competing in three dual competitions at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Duals, the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team went 1-2 Saturday.

The Blugolds picked up their first dual meet victory of the season, defeating Maranatha Baptist Bible College 46-0. Earlier in the day the Blugolds fell to MSOE 24-17 and Wheaton College (Ill.) 24-15.

Nathaniel Behnke (Fr.-Bruce, Wis.) recorded three victories on the day but two came by forfeit. He wrestled at 141 pounds and won against MSOE's Matt Ostovich with a pin in 1:32.

Wrestling in all three dual competitions, two Blugolds finished the day with two victories.

Zackary Sirny (Fr.-Wild Rose, Wis.) came away with two pins, defeating Wheaton's Tom Foy at 125 pounds in 2:38 and beating Maranatha's Zach Zimmerman in 1:15 at 133 pounds.

At 184 pounds, Mat Rieckhoff (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) won by technical fall (20-4) over MSOE's Dylan Allison and followed with a 10-2 major decision win over Maranatha's Jesse Gjfle.

Next up, the Blugolds will take on WIAC opponent UW-Oshkosh in Oshkosh Friday at 7 p.m. Saturday, the Blugolds will compete at the Concordia (Wis.) Duals in Mequon.
