Everett steps down as men's and women's golf coach

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire athletics department announced today that Courtney Everett has stepped down as head coach of the men's and women's golf teams and a search for a new coach will begin immediately.

Everett relinquishes her coaching duties to focus on her full-time position.

In her first season, Everett led the Blugold women to a fourth place finish at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship. She coached one First Team All-WIAC selection along with a co-WIAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

On the men's side, the Blugolds won two tournaments this fall and earned a No. 21 ranking in the Golf Week Coaches Poll and No. 20 ranking in the Golfstat National Poll.

"It has been an honor to work with such talented student-athletes and staff at UW-Eau Claire," said Everett. "These individuals are some of the hardest working people I've ever come to know. While it makes this decision that much harder, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to represent the Blugolds. I value the time I've spent coaching as it has been a wonderful chapter in my life. But it is time to step away and I wish everyone the best of luck this spring."

The Palos Park, Ill. native was a four-year letter winner for NCAA Division II Lewis University where she was named Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and was a Delahanty Award recipient all four years. The Delahanty Award recognizes Lewis student-athletes who maintained a cumulative grade-point-average for 3.25 or higher.

On the golf course, Everett carded a personal best of 79 and compiled 59 rounds for the Flyers. She recorded a season-best average of 89.9 during the 2009-10 season. Her senior season, the Flyers also claimed GLVC All Sports trophy which is presented to the GLVC institution that demonstrates the best all-around performance in the league's 17 sponsored sports. Points are allocated based on overall finish in the league standings and finish in the respective sport's conference tournament.

"Blugold Athletics appreciates Coach Everett's contributions to the golf programs," said Athletic Director Dan Schumacher. "She has worked hard to progress the program and was instrumental in the creation of the new Blugold Golf Room. We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors."
