LOUISVILLE, Ky. (blugolds.com) — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire softball players Megan Maruna (Sr. - Oswego, Ill.) and Madi Zerr (Sr. - Bristol, Wis./Wilmot Union) were both named first team All-Region VIII by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the 2023 season.
Maruna posted a .368 batting average, which ranked second on the team. The infielder hit seven doubles, two triples and nine home runs. She drove in a team-best 31 runs and scored a team-high 33 runs herself. Maruna also stole eight bases for the Blugolds and posted a .426 on-base percentage.
Zerr made the All-Region team as a utility player and pitcher. As a hitter, she tallied a .364 batting average, eight doubles and a home run. She knocked in 29 runs. As a pitcher, Zerr logged a 4-9 record and 3.51 ERA across 105.2 innings. She struck out 61 batters.
