Knetter Named WIAC Athlete of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire women's hockey forward Kelly Knetter (Wausau, Wis/West) has been named WIAC Athlete of the Week, it was announced today by WIAC Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Knetter had a goal and an assist in the Blugolds’ 3-1 victory over No. 2-ranked UW-River Falls on Feb. 10. The win set the program record for wins in a season, and handed the Falcons their second loss of the season, the first coming from the Blugolds earlier this year. In a 3-2 loss to UW-River Falls the following night, Knetter gave the Blugolds a 1-0 lead with a power play goal at the 13:31 mark in the first period.

The Blugolds have earned the #2 seed in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament (presented by Culver's) and will host UW-Stevens Point on Feb. 24 and 25.
