Women's Hockey falls to Pointers

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team took on UW-Stevens Point on Friday night, falling to the Pointers 3-0 at Ice Hawks Arena.

The Blugolds out-shot the Pointers 23-21 but it was Stevens Point who was able to notch a goal in each period.

Eau Claire also held the edge in face-offs, winning 36 of 59 with Sydney Schneider (Jr. – Chippewa Falls, WI/Chi-Hi) and Elizabeth Bauer (Fr. – Wausau, WI/East) leading the way going 10-12 and 10-15, respectively.

In goal, Erin Connolly (Fr.-Mequon, WI/Homestead) took the loss, recording 18 saves.

The Blugolds (14-7-1, 3-3 WIAC) will be back in action Saturday as they host the Pointers on Alumni Day. The puck will drop at 7:00 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Arena.
