The Blugolds like to come out flying and strike early, but Saturday was a different story. Just three minutes into the game, Superior found the back of the net and kept a one goal lead throughout the first period.

Eau Claire got things going in the second period. After falling behind 10 to 8 in shots in the first, the Blugolds only allowed two shots in the second and one in the third. They also combined for a total of 31 shots and found scoring when it mattered most.

Abby Roeser (Fr.-St. Paul, MN/East Ridge) would be the first to tie things at one. It was then Lexi Wilson (So.-Eagan, MN) who would get the go-ahead goal with just under five minutes left in the second period. The second period also saw 26 of the 34 penalty minutes combined between both teams.

Despite the significant amount of power plays, Eau Claire only managed to find the net once. It was Mariah Czech (Sr.-Andover, MN) to get the lone special teams goal that would seal the 4-1 win for the Blugolds. Jaedyn Walz (Jr.-Woodbury, MN/East Ridge) would get credit with three assists on the day to power the Blugolds to their third win in a row.
