Women's Track & Field wins UWSP Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's track and field team opened the indoor season with a first place finish at the Pointer Open on Saturday.

Results

The Blugolds won the meet with 128.50 points while Stevens Point was second with 101 and Platteville third with 71.50.

Morgan Marek won the mile run, finishing in 5:18.08 while Sam Slattery and Hanna Reed were second and third with times of 5:18.59 and 5:23.26, respectively.

The Blugolds also claimed the top three spots in the 400-meter dash. Jess Rupnow turned in a winning time of 58.00 while Ashleigh Buergi and Sasha Riley were second (59.98) and third (1:00.11).

Tommie Brenner won the pole vault with a vault of 3.56 meters and was second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.33 and Katie George was third in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:14.99.

Kelsey Worachek and Jessie Reineck were second and third in the 60-meter dash with times of 7.90 and 7.96, respectively. The duo also finished in the top three in the 200-meter dash as Reineck won the event (25.46) and Worachek was third (26.36).  

Kylie Schuettpelz won the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters while Lizz Ottush was third, clearing 1.55 meters.

Stephanie Frempong-Longdon won the triple jump with a leap of 11.40 meters while JoHannah Theisen was second in the shot put with a throw of 13.03 meters.

Maggie Durni was third in the long jump with a leap of 5.12 meters and Erica Oawster was second in the weight throw with a toss of 14.27 meters.
