Blugolds Suffer Third Straight 1-0 Loss

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) — The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team is in a funk. After winning seven straight games, they have now lost three in a row, all by a score of 1-0. The latest shutout loss came at the hands of St. Thomas (Minn.) on Wednesday evening.

The loss is the fifth straight 1-0 decision the Blugolds have played in. They won the first two, but have dropped the past three. This is now the second time they have been shutout in three straight games. They were shutout the first three games of the season.

The Blugolds held the edge in shots on goal, 8-4, but the Tommies were able to capitalize in the 20th minute for the only goal in the game.

Nina Behrenbrinker (Jr.-St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) made three saves in the loss.

The Blugolds are now 8-7-1 this year and 2-6-0 on the road. They will be happy to return home on Sunday, where they are 8-1-1 this year, to play host to Wartburg (Iowa) at 2 p.m.  Sunday is also senior day to recognize the 2012 seniors.

There will be an alumni game at Bollinger Field on Saturday at 1 p.m. for the former Blugold players.
