Women's Basketball Announces Team Awards

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team has announced their team awards for the 2020-21 season.

Senior Katie Essen (Sr. – Farmington, MN/Rosemount) was honored with two teams awards for the season. Essen was named Team Most Valuable Player and Team Defensive Player of the Year. Essen totaled 151 points and 63 rebounds, and finished tied for first on the team with 17 offensive rebounds. After the season, Essen was named as a First Team All-WIAC and WIAC All-Defensive Team winner.

Katelyn Morgan (Sr. – Green Bay, WI/Notre Dame) was named the Blugold Award winner. She was also named to the WIAC All-Sportmanship team back in March.

The Rookie of the Year Award was given to Jade Ganski (Fr. – Rothschild, WI/Newman Catholic) after a stellar first season. Ganski led the team in rebounds, defensive rebounds, and blocks in her first year as a Blugold.

The award for Most Improved Player was given to Ellie Clayton (Jr. – Lakeville, MN/Farmington). Clayton hit career high milestones in FGM, shooting %, 3-pointers made, 3-point %, free throws made, and total points. Clayton was named Honorable Mention All-WIAC for the 2020-21 season.
