EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team won their fourth-straight game on Saturday, defeating Minnesota-Morris, 76-50.
The Blugolds jumped to an early lead that they would never relinquish, holding a 20-8 lead after one quarter of play. While the Cougars would fight back in the second, Eau Claire still led 38-21 at the half.
The Blugolds would put on the cruise control in the second half, never leading by less than 14 points the rest of the way.
Hallee Hoeppner (So. – Winona, MN) led all scorers with 15 points while Anna Graaskamp (So. – Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) added 12 and a team-high six rebounds and five assists. Brooke Harris (So. – Green Bay, WI/Bay Port) also chipped in 12 points.
The Blugold defense forced 19 turnovers on the night, anchored by three steals by Kelsey Bakken (So. – Marshall, WI).
Eau Claire shot 48.5 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from the three-point line while holding the Cougars to 35.2 percent and 31.6 percent, respectively.
The Blugolds (4-0) will be back in action Sunday as they host Saint Mary's University at 3 p.m. in Zorn Arena. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day.
