Blugolds to face Titans in WIAC Softball Tournament

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire softball team is headed back to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship Tournament (presented by Culver's) with the third-seeded Blugolds (23-9) facing second-seeded Oshkosh (24-8) on Friday at noon.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Blugolds and Titans, as the two teams played at Bollinger Field on Monday. Eau Claire swept Oshkosh by scores of 5-1 and 4-0.

Regular season champion La Crosse (25-8) is set to host the five-team, double-elimination WIAC Tournament as the top seed at North Campus Field. The Eagles clinched their second regular season title and first since 2010 this spring.

Fourth-seeded Whitewater (19-17) and fifth-seeded River Falls (17-14) open the league tournament at 10 a.m. Friday. The winner advances to play La Crosse at 2 p.m. Friday.
