    EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) — As the end of the softball season approaches, every game holds more importance as the teams gear up for the WIAC tournament. With home field advantage and higher seeds still up for grabs, UW-Eau Claire and UW-Oshkosh squared off for a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Gelein Field in Carson Park. With the two teams matched up so closely in the conference, it was no surprise that they split the doubleheader, with the Titans taking game one, 7-5 and the Blugolds taking game two, 6-1.

(Blugolds.com) — The UW-Eau Claire softball team may have technically been the visitors on the scoreboard, but with poor field conditions in Superior, the Blugolds picked up two more home games, and they took advantage as they completed the doubleheader sweep over UW-Superior. UW-Eau Claire defeated the Yellowjackets 2-0 in the first game and 15-2 in five innings in the second game on a cloudy afternoon at Gelein Field in Carson Park.

    RIVER FALLS, Wis. (Blugolds.com) — Coming off a doubleheader sweep of UW-Stevens Point, the UW-Eau Claire softball team is hitting the home stretch of their schedule. Today they traveled to River Falls for a WIAC doubleheader with the Falcons. The Blugolds came out strong and picked up another sweep with a 6-1 win in game one, and a wild, back-and-forth 11-6 win in game two.

(Blugolds.com) – Playing for the first time on its home field, Gelein Field, in 712 days, the UW-Eau Claire softball team picked up two conference wins over UW-Stevens Point today. The Blugolds opened the doubleheader with a 7-2 win and closed the day with an 8-0 victory in six innings.

    BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Blugolds.com) — The second day of the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament did not go as well as the first day for the UW-Eau Claire softball team. After picking up a pair of wins against the 25th and 21st-ranked teams in the nation, they were in for two more tough tests on Sunday. In a rematch with Washington University (Mo.), the Blugolds fell 4-2 in the first game of the day and against 19th-ranked host Illinois Wesleyan, they fell 6-0 in the second game of the day.
  • Softball Takes Down Two Ranked Teams at IWU Tournament

    BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Blugolds.com) – Competing on the first day of the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament, the UW-Eau Claire softball team hit eight home runs and picked up two wins against nationally-ranked teams today. Against 25th-ranked Washington University (Mo.), the Blugolds won 8-0 in six innings while taking down 21st-ranked Anderson University (Ind.) 10-1 in five innings.
  • Softball Can't Avoid Sweep by Rival Stout

    EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) — It’s been a long time since the UW-Eau Claire softball team has played a game at Gelein Field, their actual home field. Last season weather forced all of the home games to be played at Bollinger Field, and this spring, the weather has been rather unkind again, forcing the Blugolds back to Bollinger Field for their doubleheader matchup with UW-Stout. The Blugolds fell in a shootout in game one, 8-6, and in game two, it was the Blue Devils that were victorious again, this time in extra innings, with an 8-4 win.

    PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) — The UW-Eau Claire softball team opened conference play yesterday, but it was not the start they were looking for. UW-La Crosse handed the Blugolds a 5-4 loss and a 5-3 loss in the doubleheader. Sunday, the Blugolds had a chance to get back on track in WIAC play with a doubleheader against UW-Platteville. UW-Eau Claire took care of business with a 13-7 win in game one and a 13-3 win in game two to pick up the sweep.

    LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Playing two close games at UW-La Crosse to open the 2014 conference schedule, the UW-Eau Claire softball team came up short in both at North Campus Field today. The Blugolds fell 5-3 in the first game and 5-4 in the second.
  • Softball Falls to 12th-Ranked Central in Doubleheader

    PELLA, Iowa (Blugolds.com) — The UW-Eau Claire softball team squared off with Central College (Iowa), the 12th ranked team in the latest NFCA poll, for a doubleheader Monday afternoon. It was a tail of two games as the first one was a dramatic extra inning game, while the second game lacked any drama and ended early due to the eight-run rule. Despite the drastic differences in the games, there was one constant and that was Central coming out on top with a 9-8 win in eight innings in game one and an 8-0 victory in game two.

    OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Blugolds.com) — After picking up a doubleheader split against Simpson College (Iowa) on Saturday, the UW-Eau Claire softball team was back in action Sunday afternoon for another twin bill. The Blugolds earned a sweep on Sunday with a 7-4 win over St. Scholastica (Minn.) and a 2-1 win over Dubuque (Iowa).

    INDIANOLA, Iowa (Blugolds.com) — The UW-Eau Claire softball team returned to action for the first time Saturday since their spring break trip in Tucson, Ariz. With snow still on the ground in Wisconsin, the Blugolds traveled to Iowa to take on Simpson College for a doubleheader. Simpson won the first game of the day 5-1, but the Blugolds earned the split with a 6-3 win in the second game.

The Blugolds opened the day with a 5-2 loss to Chapman University (Calif.) and then bounced back to beat Whittier College (Calif.) 9-0 in five innings.

They fell to the University of La Verne in the first game 8-4, but they rallied in the second game to defeat Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) in extra innings, 6-5.
