DECORAH, Iowa (Blugolds.com) The UW Eau Claire Cross Country team competed at the JV Cup on Friday afternoon hosted by Luther College on campus in Decorah, Iowa. It was a perfect day for racing with temps in the mid 40’s, plenty of sunshine and a light breeze out of the west. The Blugold men had a great day finishing 1st of 5 teams with 40 points.
Riley Huffmann (so.-Oshkosh North) continued to race strong taking the individual 8K title in 26:12 eleven seconds in front of teammate Wyatt Elmer (so.-Mankato, MN / Loyola HS) who placed 2nd of 91 runners in 26:23. Rounding out the top 5 scorers for the Blugolds were Sam Kuhlmann (fr.-Shorewood) who placed 5th in 26:30, Ben Carmichael (fr.-Wisconsin Lutheran) who placed 13th in 26:46 and Anthony Dupont (fr.-St. Paul, MN / Henry Sibley HS) who placed 19th in 27:01.
The Blugolds will be competing at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Augustana College at Saukie Golf Course in Moline, IL this Saturday, November 14th. The women’s 6K is at 11 am followed by the men’s 8K at Noon.
