Women's Track and Field in third, men tied for sixth at WIAC Championships

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire outdoor track and field teams competed in the first day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship on Friday, with the women's team in third place and the men's tied for sixth after day one.

Results

Samantha Slattery (Jr. – Waunakee, WI) won the 10K with a time of 38:13.35 while Lexie Tremble (Jr. - Muskego, WI) was eighth with a time of 39.37.37. In the long jump, Ashley Agrimson (Fr. – Peterson, MN/Rushford-Peterson) finished sixth (5.37m).

In the pole vault, Tommie Brenner (Jr. – Reedsburg, WI) tied for second with a height of 3.61m while Mic Hack (Jr. - Fort Atkinson, WI) was eighth (3.46m).

The Blugolds tallied 12 points in the 3000m steeplechase as Katie George (Jr. – St. Paul, MN/Visitation) earned eight points with a second place finish (11:41.00) while Teagan Monfils (Fr. – Shawano, WI) was sixth (11:49.48) and Karen Gomez-Ruiz (Jr. – Chatfield, MN) was eighth (11:49.75).

In the first day of the heptathlon, Megan Wallace (Fr. – Burlington, WI) was first in the 200m (26.95) second in the high jump (1.52m and third in the 100m hurdles (15.45).

In addition, Kelsey Worachek (Sr. – Appleton, WI/Xavier) qualified for the finals in the 100m (12.34), 200m (25.79) and 400m hurdles (1:04.09) and Ashleigh Buergi (Sr. – Green Bay, WI/Bay Port) also earned a spot in the finals in the 100m (12.48).

 Sarah Glidden (Sr. – Greenville, WI/Hortonville) recorded the second-fasted time in the 200m to punch her ticket to the finals (25.24) and also advanced to the finals in the 100m hurdles (14.43) along with Brenner (14.71).

Glory Hecker (So. - Stone Lake, WI/Hayward Center) and Lakyn Kummer (So. - Medford, WI) will compete in the finals of the 400m with times of 1:00.13 and 1:00.97 in the prelims.

Sara Moen (Fr. - Blaine, MN/Centennial) and Mel Becker (Sr. – Osseo, WI/homeschool) turned in times of 2:24.25 and 2:19.86, respectively in the 800m to move on to Saturday's finals.

For the men, Adam Lembke (Fr. – Waukesha, WI/West) took fourth place in the long jump (7.07m) while Anthony Dupont (Jr. – Mendota Heights, MN/Henry Sibley) finished sixth in the 10K to earn three points for the Blugolds with a time of 32.39.43.

In the decathlon, Michael Amerlan (So. – Itasca, IL/Lake Park West) was second in the 100m (11.03), fourth in the 400m (51.87) and the high jump (1.82m).  

Joe Black (So. – River Falls, WI) turned in a personal best to finish seventh in the javelin (51.14m) while Alex Winn (So. – Kingston, WA) was eighth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:44.56.

KJ Munn (So. – Bayport, MN/St. Croix Prep) earned a spot in the finals of the 200m (22.11) and 400m (48.87) while Dietrich Schwoerer (So. – McFarland, WI) qualified in the 400m (48.32).
