Men's Track & Field Second at Ashton May Invite

LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team took second out of 11 teams at the Ashton May Invitational hosted by UW-La Crosse on Friday scoring 100 points.

Roger Steen (Sr.-Luck, WI) won the shot put with a throw of 56-03.25. Alex Mess (Jr.-De Pere, WI/Green Bay Notre Dame) came in second with a toss of 53-03.00.

In the long jump, Brent Mantzke (So.-Appleton, WI/Xavier) won with a leap of 21-06.00 while the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Jimmy Paske (So.-Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins), Connor Drexler (So.-Baraboo, WI), Sam Haluska (Fr.-Waukesha, WI/Kettle Moraine) and Will LaJeunesse (Jr.-Belle Plaine, MN) placed first with a time of 3:21.12.

Brandon Zarnoth (Sr.-Appleton, WI/North) won the 110 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 14.64 while Josh Thorson (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) won the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:55.61.

Cory White (Sr.-Tomah, WI) finished second in the 200 meter dash, clocking in with a time of 22.23.

The Blugolds next meet will be the UW-Platteville Invitational on April 10-11.
