Tuscan, AZ (Blugolds.com)- The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team split on its final day of competition on Spring Break to finish with a 3-2 record. The Blugolds defeated Pima Community College 9-0 and fell to Arizona Christian 7-2.

In the first match of the day, the Blugolds came out strong, dominating Pima Community College 9-0.
Kyle Hoffmann (Sr. Franklin, Wis.) and Michael Mauthe (Jr. Neenah,Wis.) got things rolling for the Blugolds, winning at number one doubles, 8-5. Jordan Stevens (Sr. Woodbury, Minn.) and Will Weyenberg (Jr. Neenah, Wis.) followed suit at number two doubles, winning by a score of 8-0. In number three doubles, Andrew Dahl (So. Fort Atkinson, Wis.) and Andrew Rust (So. Golden Valley, Minn.) finished the doubles sweep, cruising to an 8-4 win.
Eau Claire continued their dominance in singles play, with Hoffmann earning a 6-0,2-6, 10-6 win at number one while Weyenberg won by a score of 6-3, 7-5 at number two singles. Daniel Schoen (Fr. Brookfield, Wis.) also turned in a win for the Blugolds at the number three spot, winning 6-0, 6-0.
August Badura (Fr. Oconomowoc, Wis.) and Rust tallied quick wins at four and five singles, winning 6-1, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-0, respectively. Bernardo Prado (Fr. Curitiba, Brazil) gave Eau Claire the complete sweep, winning by scores of 6-0,6-0.
The second match of the day proved to be a different story as the Blugolds fell to Arizona Christian University 7-2.
Weyenberg earned a No.3 singles win defeating Seth Moore 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. Daniel Schoen earned the only other Blugold victory with a 3-6,6-4,10-7 win over David Castano.
The Blugolds return home and are back in action April 1 against Luther (Iowa) in Winona, MN
