MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming team competed this weekend at the two-day UW-River Falls Falcon Invite, contested at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
While no team scores were kept, the Blugolds recorded eight top-three finishes.
Alex Plaetzer (Jr.-Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) recorded a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.78.
Also taking second in an event was Ben Epperly (Fr.-Schaumburg, Ill.) with a time of 16:58.13 in the 1,650-yard freestyle. He also had a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.76.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, the Blugolds found second and third place finishes. Corey Groshens (So.-St. Louis Park, Minn./Hopkins) grabbed second with a time of 2:15.66 while Alex Card (Fr.-Prior Lake, Minn.) finished two seconds later in third. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Groshens took third with a time of 1:00.78.
In relays, the Blugolds finished third in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:41.83 while also coming away with a third place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:40.47.
The Blugolds will compete in their final competition before the break next Saturday at UW-La Crosse. Action will get underway at noon in the dual meet.
