Late Game Heroics Not Enough As Men's Hockey Loses In Overtime

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team hosted UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday night for the Commissioner's Cup Semifinal round. After two scoreless periods, Eau Claire would fall in overtime, 2-1.

Box Score

The first two periods would see a deadlocked battle between the two offensive powerhouses. The first tally would come from the Pointers early in the third. Jordan Fader (UWSP) would send home a rebound just minutes into the period. The Blugolds would be behind the eight ball for the remainder of the period as they trailed by one. With much of the zone time coming in the final minutes, Eau Claire would find a glimmer of hope.

Adam Parsells (Sr. – Wausau, WI/West) would make a move to the middle and fire a shot with just seconds remaining in regulation. After a deflection from Cole Paskus (Sr. – Madison, WI/West) in front, the puck would find the back of the net over the Stevens Point goaltender for the equalizer.

The momentum would travel with Eau Claire momentarily into overtime. The Pointers would find space on a counterattack and Carter Roo (UWSP) would break free and beat the Blugold netminder for the game winner.

Zach Dyment (Sr. – Abbotsford, BC/Yale Secondary) stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced. Dyment ends the season with a record of 3-3-1.

The Blugolds finish their season 4-3-1.
